家裏洗衣服常要預洗，目的都在於讓水充分浸透衣物，水深入織物纖維後可將水溶性的污物溶解，從而減少洗滌劑的用量，增強洗淨效率。

　　洗衣服的水溫也不是越高越好。因為我們常用各種含酶洗衣粉，其中的酶製劑主要有鹼性蛋白酶和鹼性脂肪酶。鹼性蛋白酶用於分解蛋白質類污物，如汗漬、血漬等;鹼性脂肪酶則主要作用於脂肪酸及其酯類污物，也就是我們通常所指的油污類。兩種酶的活性高低與溫度有關，大約40℃為最適合。溫度過高或過低都會降低酶的活性。
