7 月份發表的 Samsung 840 EVO SSD 現在又增加一款新容量了。

Samsung 在 7 月份的 SSD Global Summit 上發表的 840 EVO SSD 在 2.5 吋方面，容量高達 960GB，不過現在 mSATA 介面的 SSD 容量也獲得提升。

目前 Samsung 840 EVO mSATA SSD 擁有 120、250、500GB，以及最新的 1TB 供選擇。

Samsung 採用基於 10nm 製程的 128Gb 的 NAND Flash，SSD 上可以見到四顆顆粒，每顆封裝內擁有 16 層的 128Gb 顆粒，這意味著 Samsung 840 EVO mSATA SSD 的 PCB 上每顆 NAND Flash 容量爲 250GB。

The new 840 EVO mSATA SSD utilizes Samsung's advanced 128 gigabit (Gb) NAND flash memory based on 10 nanometer class* process technology. To form a 1TB version SSD, a total of four flash memory packages are used, each package having 16 layers of 128Gb chips. Based on the advanced memory technology, the 1TB mSATA SSD comes in a thickness of 3.85 millimeters and a weight of 8.5 grams, which are approximately 40 percent and a twelfth of a typical hard disk drive (HDD) respectively.

Samsung 840 EVO 系列採用第 5 代 MEX 控制器，在讀寫表現爲 540 / 520MB/s，1TB 版本在隨機讀取部分可以提供 98,000 IOPS 以及 90,000 IOPS。

此外，840 EVO SSD 擁有 256-bit AES 功能，因此符合 TCG Opal 以及 IEEE 1667 標準。

EVO 系列在 Samsung SSD 裏面屬於入門款的產品，價格部分較 840 Pro 親民。
