平板電腦近兩年橫掃市場，但全球市場研究機構TrendForce旗下光電事業處WitsView表示，2014年平板電腦市場因Windows 8帶動商用領域應用希望破滅，加上硬體價格壓力影響，品牌廠高規格訴求難以引起消費者共鳴，全年出貨量為2.29億台，年成長率恐將回防20%關卡。

WitsView指出，2014年品牌大廠為了朝利基市場發展，推出12吋以上大平板產品，但大尺寸產品嚴重牴觸現行平板電腦輕薄可攜與親民的售價，將使產品失去推廣著力點。

其次，高解析平板電腦的核心來自於面板，今年下半年第二代GoogleNexus 7擁有超過300PPI的高解析度，但價格偏高、銷售清淡。突顯平板消費者對價格的敏感度凌駕於規格。
